Why being part of “something” is so beneficial - Article by Isabelle Gent
The definition of a group is;
‘A common feeling of camaraderie, who work together to achieve a common set of goals’
Working on the launch of our Ashley Kate Alumni got me thinking about the advantages of being part of a group. Obviously, the intention with the Alumni group is a reward for the achievement of you finding that perfect role, with our support and guidance.
I am part of a group of photographers that on occasion get together in specific locations to discuss techniques, styles, models etc. Being a part of this group has lots of positives, we all have a common goal…improving our photography skills, trading ideas, getting the creative juices flowing through discussion but of course, it’s not all about learning. We do have a laugh along the way, and I enjoy being with like-minded people, who I would not have met except through this group! In addition, I get to compete, something that I relish, through competitions for the best photograph, with rewards for the winner. So lots of positives, with some being very tangible.
My role as the Marketing Administrator for Nicholas Associates Group is to support our sister companies like Ashley Kate, involving driving our social media activity and I do try to keep that sense of belonging with our audience. I want them to all feel that they can share their experiences and we can announce successes of our candidates and clients. To make sure that overall, you feel that you are under our wing and we can support you. It is important to make sure that you feel part of the Ashley Kate family.
Social media also means that I can keep communication pathways open with, for example, 2 billion users on Facebook, means that the platform is perfect to hear all experiences, good and constructive feedback so you always make sure you feel the support we want to offer! A career is not just for Christmas, it is for life!
But, although social media can be an excellent communication tool and a great way to keep touch with friends, staying up to date with their lives and whereabouts, it can sometimes feel like a lonely place. It has been revealed that the more time someone spends on social media, the more likely they are to feel isolated. Taking this into account, at Ashley Kate we do pride ourselves in our customer service via social media, we want our audience to feel like they belong with us, because you do! We value all your comments and want to make it as clear as possible on how we intend to support you.
And we ourselves are part of a larger group, the Nicholas Associates Group. This provides us here at Ashley Kate with the best of both worlds, with our own team and focus on what we do best, whilst being part of something bigger. This allows us to have shared values, a shared goal and access to great professionals and expert advice.
So do I feel that being part of the Ashley Kate Alumni Group is beneficial? I do, and I have also been overwhelmed by the responses we’ve had back from our candidates who clearly agree:
“2018 was a great year for me and Ashley Kate played a great role in my accomplishments. James Dubowski helped me land my first HR role which was a fantastic experience for me. So I am more than happy to be a part of this group, thank you so much”
“I attended one of the Ashley Kate HR & Finance Employment Law Update in conjunction with Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP – an informative event that I enjoyed very much. So receiving benefits such as preferential access to these events would definitely be of interest! Count me in.”
“I would very much like to say “thank you“ for the invite to this group and also to the great Ashley Kate team that dealt with me in a very professional and friendly manner: Kilian, Kate, Isabelle and Karen.”
I and everyone here at Ashley Kate are extremely excited to be able to support you all with even more benefits in addition to our core services.
