Employment Law Update Summary - 15th May 2024
Our Employment Law update held on the 15th of May saw a large audience of HR professionals dial in to access the latest updates on key legal developments. In collaboration with international law firm Eversheds Sutherland, our online events are designed to keep our HR audiences informed and up-to-date in the ever-changing legal landscape. The event was led by two experts in employment law, John Morgan and Esyllt Martin, who shared their insight and expertise on pertinent topics in the HR space.
The session focused on the following pertinent topics within the HR space:
- The General Election – outlook on potential developments with gender/ethnicity/disability pay gaps, statutory sick pay increases, flexible working requests from day one and more.
- New April 2024 Family Friendly Rights – concerning developments regarding carers leave, redundancy, paternity and neonatal care leave & pay.
- Immigration Round-Up – concerning the minimum wage enforcement for skilled workers, removal of requirements to renew sponsorship licences and the launch of the EU Entry/Exit system.
Recent case law themes were also discussed, concerning protection during industrial action, redundancy consultation, settlement agreements and more. A look ahead was also provided, looking at law implementation regarding ‘Fire & Re-hire’, the review and assessment of flexible working and other matters.
