10 Years Strong: Celebrating a Decade with Natasha Murphy
Ten years ago today, Waves by Mr Probz was at the top of the charts, Chelsea was sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League, and Natasha Murphy was starting her career here at Ashley Kate. Natasha has been an integral part of our team for the past decade. As she prepares to return from maternity leave, we are taking the opportunity to reflect on her achievements, insights, and lessons learned.
What inspired you to pursue a career in recruitment, and how has your journey evolved over the past 10 years?
I fell into recruitment completely by accident having started my career in sales. It was a natural transition, and as I love working closely with people it seemed a natural fit. From early into my recruitment journey I realised I had an interest in HR, employment law and people issues and decided to specialise in this field. I haven’t looked back yet and have been lucky enough to find a company I have developed with, supporting my growth, especially as I grow in my personal life as well.
In your experience, what are the key qualities that make a successful recruiter, particularly within the HR industry?
To be a successful recruiter you need to have a level of resilience, motivation and drive. You need that get-up-and-go attitude and an interest in business. Building relationships is the largest part of a recruiter’s role, especially in an HR environment. Take the time to get to know your network and maintain lasting relationships.
Could you share a memorable success story that has stood out to you during your career at Ashley Kate HR & Finance?
Moving into a Managing Consultant role enabled me to support other recruiters within the business which is something I’ve really enjoyed. Also after working in the same region for several years, I have been able to work with clients and candidates over and over again which is very rewarding.
As you prepare to return from maternity leave, how will you ensure a smooth transition back into the workplace?
I’m lucky to work for a business that supports flexible and home working which will help me integrate back into full-time work.
Looking ahead, what are your aspirations and goals for the future, both personally and professionally?
Hopefully, I can continue to grow in my career and work with and support other recruiters within the business. I’m excited to reestablish myself back into the marketplace in the North West and reconnect with HR professionals at all levels. Personally, I’m looking forward to travelling with my family and building memories.
As she begins the next chapter of her career with us, we want to take the opportunity to say thank you. Natasha’s contributions have helped shape our company over the years, and we look forward to celebrating many more years of success and achievements in the future!
