Celebrating a Decade with Ashley Kate!
We recently had the pleasure of celebrating a major milestone – 10 incredible years since our Head of HR Recruitment, Jacqui Wall, became part of the Ashley Kate team. To mark the occasion, we caught up with Jacqui to reflect on her journey over the past decade, her proudest achievements, and her insights into the ever-evolving world of HR recruitment. Plus, she shares her thoughts on what the future holds for the industry.
Your Ashley Kate journey began 10 years ago. Can you tell us how your role has evolved during this time?
I originally joined Ashley Kate as a recruiter, focusing on the London market. A few years in, I was asked to step into a management role, drawing on my previous experience. I took on leadership across the Northern and Midlands regions before eventually overseeing our entire UK HR recruitment operation in 2021. It’s been an incredible journey of growth, challenges, and rewarding experiences.
Looking back on your career with Ashley Kate, what has been your proudest achievement?
Without a doubt, seeing our team win Team of the Year at our annual conference was a huge moment, and personally, winning Employee of the Year was incredibly rewarding.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your time with us so far?
Patience – whether it’s navigating challenges, developing teams, or waiting for the right opportunity, patience has been key in making informed decisions and achieving long-term success.
What might your colleagues not know about you after all these years? Do you have any hidden talents or fun hobbies?
Believe it or not, I used to have a great singing voice and was always the lead in school musicals. These days, though, a little too much fizz and a few too many ciggies have put an end to my West End dreams!
How has the industry changed over the past decade, and what excites you about the future of HR recruitment?
Technology has completely transformed the industry, and I love that it keeps me learning and evolving. Despite all the advancements, HR recruitment remains a people-centric profession. Employers who embrace AI, adapt to flexible working trends, and make diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) a priority will have a real competitive edge in attracting top talent. The next decade will be all about balancing innovation with the human touch.
If you could travel back to your first day at Ashley Kate, what advice would you give to your younger self?
Buckle up – you’re in for an exciting ride! Stay open to every opportunity, trust your instincts, and remember that success is a marathon, not a sprint.
A huge thank you to Jacqui for sharing her career journey with us, and congratulations once again on this fantastic milestone! As a valued member of our team, her dedication and contributions have played a key role in our success. Here’s to many more years ahead!
